A few days back, my friends and I were discussing about Hollywood and Bollywood animation films and what makes them poles apart. The first thing that came to our mind was the kind of humour. Our films have a very puerile humour which is targeted only for selected kids, while the humour in Hollywood films appeals to all age groups. The other factor was the quality of animation. We certainly have a long way to go, as far as animation is concerned.
But things are changing for good. Though still in the nascent stage, quality animation films are finally being made in India. After ROADSIDE ROMEO and RAMAYANA- THE EPIC, TOONPUR KA SUPERRHERO is positively a step in the right direction for Indian animation industry. A sure sign that that animation is here to stay!
The real life jodi of Ajay Devgn and Kajol team up yet again, this time in an animation flick. Earlier they were seen in Ajay Devgn's home production, U ME AUR HUM back in 2008. TOONPUR KA SUPERRHERO is also India's first live action - 3D animation combination feature film.
Film superstar Aditya (Ajay Devgan) and his wife Priya (Kajol), who is an ardent follower of vastu, lead a near-perfect life. Ajay has many fans all over the world but his kids Kabeer (Amay Pandya) and Raima (Chinky Jaiswal) are not one of them and think that he's a fake hero. They're huge fans of the cartoon series, Toonpur. However, their cartoon world of Toonpur is at war, where the toonasurs (bad toons) have spread their terror. The devtoons (good toons), who are in a spot of bother, kidnap Aditya to fight with the toonasurs.
