Men have been asking women this question since the dawn of time: “Does size really matter?” So many men are afraid that the length, girth, or shape of their penis is not enough to please a woman. Even guys who go around boasting, “Well, I’ve had no complaints,” seem to secretly fear that they aren’t large enough. No matter how many times women tell men, size really doesn’t matter to me, they don’t seem to believe it.
Women can’t understand this phenomenon at all. Maybe that’s because a woman’s primary sex organ doesn’t really have a “size,” and the secondary sexual organs that are visible, the breasts, are pretty easy to judge the size of even under clothing. A man’s sex organ, on the other hand, is usually hidden pretty completely under clothing (well, depending upon how tightly or loosely a man prefers to wear his pants, that is!)
The majority of women say that they aren’t lying when they tell men over and over that they really don’t care one way or another about penis size. In a study of 200 women published in European Urology in 2002, 77% of them said that the size of a man’s penis is either unimportant or very unimportant. Another study of 500 women, conducted in 2006 and published in the Archives of Sexual Behavior, found that only 20% of the women polled said that penis size mattered. A 2001 study published in BMC Women’s Health found that 10% of women polled said that a longer penis was more pleasurable than a wider one. This makes sense, when one thinks about how the nerves work throughout the female vagina – the ones that cause the greatest pleasure are not that deep inside, but rather, only about 2 inches inside the vagina. There aren’t nerves deep in the vagina that would respond to a longer penis, but there are nerves close to the opening that would welcome a wider one.
According to Wikipedia, the average man’s penis is about four inches long when flaccid and six inches when erect, and its circumference is about 1 ¼ inches when flaccid and 1 ½ inches when fully erect. It also is important to note that studies have never definitively linked certain races to a larger (or smaller) penis size. Now, don’t go running for your tape measure, guys, these are just average figures. If yours doesn’t quite fall within these parameters, don’t fret. And please, stop asking us the same questions about penis size – once and for all, definitively, it really doesn’t matter to us!
