BlackBerry 10 – Bid to Re-Capture Enterprise Customers

Research in Motion (RIM) has launched their latest operating system “BlackBerry 10″ in a bid to regain market share lost in favor of rivals iOS and Android. The new OS will be accompanied by two new handsets BlackBerry Z10 featuring modern touch screen keyboard and Blackberry X10 clinging to the traditional full QWERTY physical keyboard. Being the leading smart phone manufacturer only 5 years ago, RIM has been pushed back to the brink of extinction by the newer and user friendly iOS and Android. This new bid by RIM is being seen as a welcome start by corporate users who still prefer BlackBerry due to its better corporate and enterprise services. The new BlackBerry 10 promises some exciting features including “BlackBerry Balance,” an application that keeps your business and personal data separate and inaccessible from each other. BlackBerry Balance is expected to fulfill the concerns of many businesses over security of their data. Corporate firms will have complete control of work section and may choose to provide as much or as little freedom to their users while keeping their data fully secure. Amongst other enhancements, better browsing capabilities, state of the art intuitive keyboard, and better camera are being liked by users. A new “timeshift” feature which can detect faces and adjust images accordingly has also been incorporated with camera application. New and improved app library has also been promised by BlackBerry for its users with almost 70,000 apps available for users to download. The timing of BlackBerry 10 launch is also perfect. With Apple’s iPhone 5 sales losing some momentum and Samsung’s next Galaxy phone nowhere near its launch, BlackBerry is expected to regain some of its lost share in smart phone market. Both iOS and Android are more than five years old and some users are getting weary of similar OS and surely want something new and exciting. BlackBerry 10 may prove to be just the right OS for these customers. Many analysts feel that RIM has a good chance of making a strong comeback. As per these analysts new BlackBerry 10 operating system is stronger than Apple’s iOS and Google’s Android platforms in every aspect other than apps and content. With a very strong history of BlackBerry devices in corporate and business world, BlackBerry 10 along with its new Z10 and X10 handsets is sure to set new waves of competition for iPhone and Galaxy S3. With all the new and exciting features it may prove to be the next big thing for corporate world and RIM both.
